In this, our opening blog post, The Talcott Mountain Collective is pleased to feature two talented artists from the Farmington Valley. Both of these artists were essential to the development of our project and we can’t help but shine a light on their respective talents.
Originally from Alingsås, Sweden, Pia started her artistic career in 1971 at the Orrefors School of Glass, and then became an engraver at Kosta Glass in Småland. In 1974, Pia moved to the United States to co-found a glass studio in Collinsville, Connecticut. She has lived in the Farmington River Valley since then, though she travels frequently to Sweden for art or craft shows and her design business.
For the Collective, Pia applied her talents to create a custom mural that captures the beauty and majesty of our adjacent landscape, alongside Talcott Mountain State Park and the iconic Heublein Tower. Her goal was to “Bring the outside, inside” – and we couldn’t be more pleased with her project.
In addition to her mural, Pia will feature additional work with us, and we invite you to visit her online gallery. We can’t recommend Pia enough. Her creativity, passion and energy have been a gift to the Collective, and our community at-large. We encourage you to look through her catalog of work, or engage her on a custom project for your residence or business.
Nick and his family reside locally, in the Simsbury village of Weatogue. Nick’s talents are showcased on our website, through the stunning aerial footage captured by his
drone camera. Nick also used his drone and talents to create our “We Are Open” announcement video (featured on our homepage and YouTube channel)
Nick is often spotted walking the Farmington Valley, and other stretches of this great state and country, armed with a camera and sharp eye. His ability to capture some of Simsbury’s local landmarks is phenomenal and we are lucky to feature a number of them at the Collective. His gallery can be viewed on this Instagram link – and if you have interest in purchasing any prints, he can be contacted directly through Instagram.
